Trying to keep warm here with these below freezin' temps and think I need another layer of WOOL.

Betsy, hope my previous message didn't get lost in the previous blog message you had. It was a comment about your Rainbow Squares wool and Barb Carroll's class.

I have recently found your blog. So full of inspiration! I am a new hooker and I enjoy reading your blog.
My favorite movie is White Christmas. My Dad was in the US Army and he was a POW during WW2, his outfit was captured during the Battle of the Bulge...on Christmas Eve. He kept in touch with a few of the guys in POW camp, and over the years, he found more and more men from his outfit and eventually organized reunions. He was not a general, but he was a good man, and all the guys really liked my dad alot. Seeing the guys in the movie get all those men together reminds me of my Dad.

My other favorite is the new version of Christmas in Connecticut. Did you know that version was directed by Arnold Schwartzenegger?

Thanks for the wonderful give away. Just to show that someones remnants is anothers treasure!

I saw The Bishop's Wife, starring Cary Grant for the first time last year. This was just a lovely Christmas movie. Can't wait to watch it this year. As far as hooking, I am working on multiple angel ornaments on my frame right now, using leftovers from the year!

Trying to warm here in Ohio, too. Wool helps and winning some would be even better.
I love a Christmas Story! The house from the movie is actually in Cleveland and is a museum.

Hello!
My favorite quote is one by Thoreau (from "Walden"):
"I'd rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than to be crowded on a velvet pillow."
Reminder to self: someday hook a rug with that quote in it!
Sorry I did not get to see Betsy at the NY Sheep and Wool Festival...I had recent foot surgery and walking was not an option. Then I fell a week later and broke my leg! I was destined to stay home from work for a few weeks and hook (and knit)...Heck of a way to get hookin time, but as they say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!"
My favorite Christmas movie? Without a doubt it is The Christmas Story. For as many times as I have watched Ralphie and his Red Rider BB gun, it keeps me in stitches like I am seeing it for the first time!
Love the quilt for your mom...hope she doesn't peek at the blog site and see it!

It's hard to pick one favorite Christmas movie. I love It's a Wonderful Life, love Jimmy Stewart. Another great holiday movie starring him was The Shop Around Corner, You've Got Mail was a remake of this movie. I like the original better, no offense to Tom Hanks.
I agree shop online with a cup of tea.

its beginning to look like christmas. At least here in Indiana we do have snow on the ground and more coming tomorrow. The air is really cold. Nice time to stay inside and get some hooking done. Now if santa will bring me some wool.

So...I had this great idea for my birthday (which was on the 5th) to cut my own tree! I gave away my pre lit artificial tree (that I bought last year) because I was tired of cleaning pine needles till June to my oldest son. When I finally found a place an hour away I met up with a huge traffic jam due to an accident, wound up turning around after being in traffic for 45 more minutes, and bought one at a place where the money goes to help youths. I get the tree home and it took all day to get it into a stand and another 2 days to finish decorating it. Oh yeah, I had to go out and buy lights for it as well! Somehow I don't think going back and doing things the old fashioned way was as time consuming or stressful as all this turned out to be! However I am only pleased that the $ spent went to a good cause! NOW I CAN FINALLY SIT BACK & HOOK MY WINTER RUG IN FRONT OF MY TREE! Merry Christmas, Happy holidays to all!

Its cold in Minnesota where it will definately be a white christmas. My funny habit is unknowingly writing Quackers instead of Crackers on my grocery list. I didn't even know I did it until my husband went grocery shopping with me and asked where the ducks were in the grocery store so he could get some quackers! :)

We celebrate Hanukkah, and the date changes every year. This year, it started very early, and it's not as much fun when everyone else is still planning fot Xmas and your holiday is long gone. Betsy's giveaway package would sure cheer me up right now, especially since my husband and I don't exchange gifts anymore.

Claire said...

Shop early or late! Never inbetween!! I make sure I watch Christmas Vacation every year! Still laugh at it!

kimberly said...

Again Thank you Erica & Betsy for the chance to win wool, and also to get some good laughs!
My best tip for Xmas this year is let your son in law put up and decorate the trees!
For years the task fell to me. Husband and one or more kids would lug out the trees, and would do the garland...the rest was up to me!
This year our new son in law who is an Air Force Pilot asked if he could "help" I think i put two ornaaments on each tree and he spent hours creating a masterpiece! He got a good look at our family traditions and the chance to use up some OCD energy(pilots are perfectionists!) and I didnt get burned out decking the halls!
Favorite movie is a toss up Old school me loves White CHristmas ?Holiday Inn. With it mom loves ELF. I have seen it about 9 times and it still cracks me up!
My second stress buster is to make sure no matter how crazy my days are to hook each day!
Hope everyone is enjoying the anticipation of the big day!

susiedele said...

I like the Focker movies. Gonna see the new one soon. They crack me up...

For me, sewing works for stress management. I don't have much stress in my life, maybe that's because I stitch every day.

Merry Christmas! My family always had strawberry jello with fruit cocktail and real whipping cream for breakfast on Christmas morning, along with cookies and breads. It's something my father's family did and we carried it on. Talk about a sugar high!

My husband and I always watch the Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid movie with the Griswalds! It cracks me up, especially the dog, Snots. I wish you and your family a very happy holiday season and I hope I get a Heavens to Betsy gift card under the tree. I am giving hints to my kids etc!!!

Here in California it's in the high 60's this today. This afternoon my six year old grandson and I started to decorate the house with Christmas things. Pulling out the boxes of decorations I've collected over the years and explaining to him, this one was from your dad when he was your age ...and on and on... makes me nostalgic and feeling happy and blessed this Christmas Season. I hope all of you have a very happy holiday season too. And remember, every time you hear a bell, an angel has it's wings!!

My favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful life. After my daughter is asleep on Christmas eve, my husband and I watch it while we wrap all the last minute gifts --- there was lots of wool in George Bailey's life! Happy Holidays everyone

My stress reliever is going to church - Advent service on Wednesday eve and Sat. night or Sunday morning. It gets me back to remembering the real reason for Christmas, and then all of the other hectic activities quietly move to the bottom of the priority list.

Oh my ALL TIME FAVORITE Christmas movie is "A Christmas Story". My hubby & I watch it like every year... and always take advantage of the 24hour marathon on TBS. (Plus we have our own personal copy.lol)

Something that I have been making a habit of this Christmas season is always emptying out my coin purse to add the Salvation Army bucket... every time I see one. It helps ease the stress of the season by helping those in need.

Thanks for offering the free wool. I hope I'm a lucky winner this week. Wish my number to be the lucky number! :)

My favorite Christmas movie is a tie between A Christmas Story (you'll shoot your eye out, kid!) and Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation. When he is stuck in the attic and Ray Charles starts to sing...nothing better.

Our cold and rainy northern California winter is here. I have several projects calling my name - one is an Americana pattern, one is a floral primitive and one is of dancing rabbits. Which one shall I choose? I have several pieces of Betsy's wool in my stash and I'm sure it will find its way into these rugs.

We always decorate the tree while watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and we all watch Chevy Chase's "Christmas Vacation." I think we can say every word along with the actors.

Love your Blog and reading the comments posted. Thanks, too, for the Giveaway!

Being of Polish descent, we don't put our Christmas tree up until a few days before Christmas, but we leave it up until Feb 2....that's the end of the Christmas season. My daughter lives in Colorado and goes into the mountains to cut the tree and she brings it to my house in Texas. It always stays fresh until February. We have our huge Chrsitmas Eve dinner and then go to midnight Mass. It's the highlight of our year.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas.

We are currently have some light snow here and I am counting down the days until Christmas vacation. Although not a traditional choice, my favorite Christmas movie has to be Opus and Bill: A Wish for Wings that Work, with Garfield's Christmas coming in at a close second. While I'm busy baking cookies, I will keep my fingers crossed that my stocking will soon be filled with some free wool. :)

Second time this week someone has said their favorite holiday movie was Christmas in Connecticut...I live in CT and have never seen the old or new one...so I now I have to go find it.

My stress reliever is, of course, hooking. However, this year, things just are not turning out like they should. Our hooking group has a Christmas mat exchange this Sunday and last week I finished my mat (in plenty of time!)and I HATE IT! So, with only 4 days left, I'm hooking another (did I say I also work full time?) And that's why I need more yummy HTB wool!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

My daughter and son-in-law don't come home for Christmas til the middle of January. It's a little tough to be all excited for Christmas morning when it is a day of OUR choosing, and a few weeks after everyone else we know has celebrated. But I'm thrilled we get to see them, so many folks don't get to be together for Christmas, so I'm still very thankful. I'll probably spend Christmas eve and day fixing a couple of nice meals for my husband and I, and he'll watch sports while I hook. Sounds pretty good!

The wind has stopped for today, makes the cold much more pleasant. Wool is nice to be surrounded by.

I have quit decorating the house for the holidays. It doesn't give me enough pleasure for the time I was spending doing it, so I just quit.

My favorite movie is the Bishop's Wife. I've watched it every Christmas holiday for years.....it's one of the movies that I watch while wrapping presents.

The cat rug you showed is on my long 'to-do'list! Very cute.
I love the older classic movies, for Christmas I like one that has Barbara Stanwick & Robert Mitchum(at least I think it's them...).Maybe it's the Christmas in Conneticut one?!?? They were all such great actors then.
