  2. I love to hook with my best friend Teresa who got me into hooking 12 years ago. We talk, laugh and enjoy each others company while we work on our projects. Hot tea or a little red wine completes the picture!

  3. Oh WOW! What a great giveaway! I would love to have my name dropped in the hat! I hook in my living room mostly... and with the ol' TV on for the noise. ;) Although, I would LOVE to hook weekly with buddies! If only they all lived closer.

    Smiles,

  4. Several of us work together and weekly come together for a hook-in. We've found that any activity we have to do is not as important as our Wednesday evening Guild. Over the hooking frame and wool, we have developed true friendships that will last as long as the rugs we make.

  5. I hook mostly with my hooking group at the Metroparks Visitor Center. This is a beautiful location and the friendship and support of the group is a wonderful experience. I do sometimes hook in the evening watching t.v.

One of my favorite publications is "American Folk Art Rug Hooking" by Barbara Carroll.

  6. Oh thank you HtoB for feeding our wonderful wool addiction. I'm so delighted that it is fall - prime time for cozy hooking -- although I must say I hooked straight through the blistering summer heat too. Yes, as to your question: I hook with 3 groups; I also hook alone in a comfy chair; and I hook in the car on road trips. Generally, I hook in quiet but not always. That's what's great about hooking. It can be a social or solitary activity.

  7. Hi,
I have only been hooking for about a year and LOVE it!! I hook anywhere I can and when I can. I am learning so much. I sometimes hook with a seasoned hooker and enjoy our time together. I learn from her soooo much! I love all the rug hooking books I can put my hands too. I am just now collecting wool so this would be great!...bless you all!

  8. A Contest! Sounds Wonderful!! One can never have enough wool--especially from Betsy! I hook in my back room, which has large windows overlooking my back yard which is at the base of a mountain. I can see my deer and occasional bear while I hook and watch Fox News!

  10. Corporately, I get together weekly with a small group of friends to hook - we take turns hostessing our mini-hook-ins - lots of visiting, laughter, advice, nurturing, and usally a yummy snack! Privately, I hook in my bedroom, sitting on an exercise ball, late in the evening when all my work is finally done for the day, in front of the TV set watching FOX News. It's my "winding-down" time...

  20. I belong to a wonderful guild in Bainbridge, Ohio, called the Western Reserve Rug Hookers. Betsy has been a very popular vendor at our hook-ins. Her wool flies out the door! I love to hook in the company of other guild members because I am awed and inspired by their talent and creativity. My favorite book for hooking is Hooked and Sewn Rugs by Joel and Kate Kopp. Thank you for the opportunity to vie for a wonderful stack of your wool!

  27. I used to hook in my sunroom with no tv, no radio, just a nice view of my backyard, but now I hook in my family room when I sit down in the evening to watch tv. Hooking is very therapeutic and gives me a respite from worrying about my teenagers!

  28. Great selection in this lot for a giveaway! My dh made a room for me in our semi finished basement. The stereo is always on and that's where I get lost in the color and peace of pulling loops! I can't hook with people as I general talk too much when I'm in a group... lol! My current publication for inspiration is A Primitive Place magazine (new), but before that is was Country Sampler.

  29. Betsy, Thanks for the opportunity to win more wool. You're great.
I hook every week with a group of quilters. I love the company. Then I hook once a month with my hooking group 50 miles away. At home, I hook in the den watching RV with my husband. I'm very busy hooking right now....I have to hook 3 more foot stools for Christmas gifts for my daughters and daughters-in-law. Happy hooking.

  30. I have a place set up in my living room especially for hooking. It consists of a comfy chair, frame on a floor stand, rolling drawer thingie with all my hooks and stuff (to keep my cats from using my hooks as toys!) with an Ott light so I can see. I usually hook while I watch TV.

    P.S Cool contest!

  41. I began hooking with alongside Deanne Fitzpatrick, a neighbour at the time, who you couldn't know without at least trying your hand at it...the rest is history. I am hooked! I love her style and all 4 books she has written. They are inspirational, informative and personal to her sense of style and the way she lives her life.

  42. I love to hook with friends, but I probably get more done when I hook by myself.

  43. When the weather's nice I hook outside with the dog while the rabbit runs around in her enclosure and we listen to nature. When the weather isn't so nice, I hook at the end of the couch leaning against the arm rest (while the dog takes the other end of the couch) and listen to a book on tape.

A group of friends get together each week and help me stay on track as far as finishing a project once in a while. I also hook in the evening at home while watching TV with my family. It is relaxing and fun.

  49. I am a first time hooker, working on my very first rug bought from a kit. I am learning a lot by trial and error, reading everything I can get my hands on. So far I have hooked while watching TV, and I even took it to work with me to hook in down times! I'd love to win this wonderful wool....

    Thank you!

No matter if I'm stitching a penny rug or hooking I'm in my favorite comfy chair in the living room in front of the fire with my adoring shih tzus at my feet. 54. What a great incentive to stay in touch with Heavens to Betsy. My favorite place to hook is on the back deck with a glass of wine before sunset, weather permitting. My second choice is my comfy chair in the living room. I also enjoy our monthly hook-ins. Everyone is always so supportive and encouraging.

  55. I have a craft room with favorite things - dolls, books, paintings, sculpture AND OF COURSE WOOL! I prefer music or quiet, but enjoy hooking with friends too. No single favorite book or source for inspiration - various art books, hooking books and magazines, and historical/pictorial books. Hard to say from where next inspiration will evolve. Sometimes it is just having new wool and some time to play!

  59. Hi, I enjoy hooking for fun and it is good therapy for me. I get into this world of colors and imagination that intrigues me. I am 62 yrs old and have only been hooking now for about 5 yrs. I have loved old textiles for many years and have always appreciated hooked rugs. I hook in my daughters shop and at home in my living room with my 3 Jack Russell dogs. Yeah for Wool give a-aways!!

  60. I hook usually in my studio where it is quiet. Occ. with the TV. I also belong to 2 guilds so will hook monthly with them. My idea of a great hooking environment is woth a few hooking friends, great chatter, a little background music and a glass of wine. Any book can be my inspiration as well as just the morning sunrise on the way in to work!

  61. Love free wool. I am lucky enough to have my own wool room to scatter my goodies around. Wool is as colorful as the fall leaves laying in the grass.
